We’ve been in business for almost 50 years—and you don’t grow a successful business that lasts that long without learning a few things. In our hearts (and with our eyes and ears), we have long believed that DAC is a truly diverse company. You need only walk our halls to see the many different cultures and ethnicities that make up our teams.

But, feeling the need to do more than just assume we’re an inclusive company, we decided to ask our staff: “How diverse and inclusive is DAC?” Here are some of the highlights from our employees across 12 offices in six countries: New York, Chicago, Louisville, Rochester, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, London, Edinburgh, Madrid, Munich, and Paris.

  • Diversity ✔️

We have lots of insights to share, but let’s start with the big one: “Do you think DAC is a diverse organization?” A positive response of 85% confirms our hopes and makes us very proud. More importantly, it reminds us that we have some room for improvement too.

  • Culture

Looking at our geographic footprint, you would expect DAC to have team members from an array of different cultures, right? We sure do! In fact, our Geeks with Personality hold citizenships to 34 different countries and identify as being a part of 53 different cultural ethnic groups.

  • Language ️

English is not a first language for 33% of our staff, but all have mastered that particular challenge admirably. Equally impressive, collectively we speak 38 different languages. So, if you are looking for a global digital marketing partner… Bonjour! Hola! Guten tag! Zdravstvuyte! Nǐn hǎo!

  • Race

41% of our staff identify as People of Color, and in some of our offices we really do reflect our cityscapes. We are actively recruiting on more diverse platforms to make sure we give equal access to candidates of all cultures in all of our offices. We’re committed to always hiring the best Geek for the job while also driving diversity in our smaller offices.

  • Age

DAC is proud to have been a leader in local marketing solutions for 48 years and counting. Yet we’re actually a young company with 70% of our staff under the age of 40. That means we have the energy and enthusiasm to tackle every business challenge before us, but also the wisdom and experience of our over-40 team members too.

  • Gender ♀️

As Beyonce would say, “Who runs the world? Girls!” At DAC that is often the case: overall, our team is 58% female, including 57% of management and 31% of senior leadership. We value talent, drive, and teamwork regardless of gender or any other characteristics that define our Geeks.

  • Orientation ️‍

About 10% of our team identify as being part of the LGTBQ+ community. Regardless of your pronoun, you are welcome at DAC—where ideas are the name of the game, not the person you love.

  • Disabilities

About 5% of our team are living with disabilities. DAC is not only compliant with all legislation regarding disabilities where we have offices, but we specifically address accessibility in our onboarding and training processes too. We pride ourselves on approaching every relationship—and treating everyone we meet—with the exact same dignity and respect that we all deserve, regardless of any disability or challenge people may be facing.

The story behind the numbers

So, this is a lot of statistics, and there are others we could share too. But our promise is simple: to ensure that nobody at DAC ever feels discriminated against, treated differently, or deprived of opportunities because of their race, color, religion, gender, ethnic origin, age, disability, marital status, family status, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Although we’re 85% of the way there, we will work on raising that bar through ongoing education and awareness, actively providing opportunities to under represented communities, and ensuring the everyone at DAC—including our clients—recognize DAC as a leader in diversity and inclusion.
